A couple of years ago I was looking for some stress relief & exercise--between work, grad school & life stuff I was becoming a stressed out lump! I decided to get back into Irish Dance because it turns out that's the only kind of exercise I actually enjoy doing & will do on my own without a drill sergeant like instructor making me. Back in high school my dance school didn't have many adult dancers so I was little worried about starting up again--but I'll also never admit that I have any less energy than when I started at 15 (age is just a number anyways right??...yes it is.)
Thankfully the Mckeever School actually has very active adult class (well several classes actually!) so I'm not that 'old lady' in class (hey! Don't call me that!)
Two years later, the school has grown a lot its own studio with the the CLARA Studios for Performing Arts Saturday was the opening reception for the CLARA Studios for Performing arts. For the first time since High School my twin sister and I were set to perform a two-hand reel--thinking I'd grown up a bit I went over to her house to practice (er...we...remember...) the dance. It was just like high school again! in the fact that I wanted to argue with her about all the steps (even though I knew she was right most of the time...most being the optimum word...) but I must have grown up some since I suppressed the urge to argue and instead drew this picture! (Hopefully that's not what we looked like on stage!)
Overall the event was awesome! And performing was super fun...and we didn't even fight! Hopefully more performances soon & more sketches of dancers!! (Stay tuned as that is fast becoming my new project :-D because sleep is optional right?)
